I have been thinking about DJ sets a lot lately due to my regular Thursday rehearsals at a friends place. Which in turn reminded me of the good ole days on the blog when I used to have my weekly Sunday Post. A clearinghouse of funk that would unburden me of the feelings of selfishness that accompany the lack of sharing. I love to turn people on to what makes me smile, drives me into fits or chills my spirit and the Sunday Post was a great outlet to impart some of my favorites onto others. Some are old and some are new and hopefully you know some and maybe even learn a thing or two. .

New to the blog this week is Morning Factory from the Netherlands releasing their 'Forgotten Moments' EP for Yore recordings. The EP's tracks such as 'Runner' and 'Someone' and indeed the cut we have shared called 'Raw Tunes Vol 1' all have a common vibe of cold funk and statically charged house music that integrates groove with artistry and never bores with lengthy pointless over hype progressions. Chicago’s Fresh Meat is pleased to welcome long time friend Ludovic Llorca to their label under his critically acclaimed Art Of Tones pseudonym. We first caught wind of Art Of Tones from the Dairmount V/A series of extended EPs. Ever since that his releases for 20/20 Vision & Room with a View records he has killed it with tech house classics from 'Praise' to this years earlier effort on the 'The World As I Live It' EP. 'Square Looqs' will be Available on Juno Records and Beatport, and other better music shops very soon.

What happens when you put a name like DJ Medhi with a name like Riton. It's called Carte Blanche and if ya don't know now you know. Hard, fast, house that filters and funks with the best of them and seeing the interrelationship between both styles is critical when too seemingly opposite attitudes of production are on display. Well balanced between the French crunk of Medhi and signature dancefloor disco nature of Riton. Also check out this mix they made!
Carte Blanche - In The Mix

Amidst all the excitement of their newest release on Exploited records called 'Ain't No Bump' we offer up an old cut circa 2008 from Berlin's Consistent. This 'Funky Bassline' moves and cuts with precision and offers quirky synths and popping percussion to execute its dance mission. Buy the whole EP here!

Back in March we started to feature some of the fine work from Portuguese producer Bodycode (a.k.a. Portable) off of his 'Immune' release from 2009. Now he has lent his support to Germany's Filterwolf on his first single EP for the full length album titled 'Music From Tomorrow' is released tomorrow on Process records. (lol!) Buy the whole 'Nocturne' EP here!

Having released a staggering amount of electro chaos from Russia for Turbo records over the last few years Zhenya better known as Proxy is back but as a producer this time and with fellow Russian, the ironically named Marseille. You may already be familiar with his excellent work on remixes of “Raven” and “Who Are You” but now we get to see the true vision of this up an coming talent with his 'UFO Attack' on Proxy's Mako records.. Buy the whole EP here!
Marseille - Over My Soul

London's Mike Monday has produced a minimal tech, deep house number here with pitched up vocals that are reminiscent of the 90's hardcore or the current speedy garage vocals present in some the biggest dubstep tracks. 'Your Body' gets pounded not only by this original but also the Tim Sheridan remix available here on the full EP
Having not known this Various Artist was even out there I was pleasantly surprised to see the artists list for what is to me an unknown label. Solid Bump records released this stellar vol 2 with some of labels best including White Girl Lust, Laberge, Le Principle, Meroz, Alona, and MyKill. All the tracks showcase some major disco swagger easily brushing aside some lesser names to stand along the label from Lisbon (D.I.S.C.O. Texas) or its Parisian counterparts.
The roster consists of a dedicated group of American nu disco purveyors who have until know escaped my worldly gaze with the exception of WGL and Laberge. San Francisco has always had a great rep for Disco as we found out from out friend Divine Mother Zebrass over the years. Here's some more examples. Buy the whole experience here!
Mykill - Flashback
Bonus Tracks:
Super Flu - Didschn
Tim Green and Emerson Todd - Make Me
