Sunday Post
In any given week I listen to hundreds of songs visiting innumerable blogs for review and possible tracks for postage. With the help of labels, gmail's, and the various mp3 retailers I try to keep the pages of VR fresh with new hype. I would probably do this with or without a blog but seeings how I do lets take a look at what was missed this week. (Images : Guilherme Marconi)
Last week we posted briefly about and new artist named Ivan Allard who released his EP on Satan Circus records. The snippet we shared from that EP had a jackin electro fidget remix from the Pottymouth prospect from Norway named ANIKI. Well back once again is the able producer and DJ with a cut from the EP 'Love and Change' which came out last month. The upcoming release of Bomberman's EP called 'Alcatraz Vol 4' is out on March 23 rd and features some smokin tracks from the likes of Edu K, Defunct!, and VR friends Dem Slackers. Check it!
DL : Trevor Loveys & Shab Fuffcut - Love And Change (Aniki remix) .
Next up is a tight EP package released on Vicious Groove records called 'Whatever Kind' by Euro turned Aussie Mic Newman. Mic's production slant more towards the technical side of house without making me feel as though I have to be high on drugs to understand it. Dissonant sounding basslines mixed with skippy cymbals and tight drumkits. On this release see his accessible side with house piano layered with big arena electro from Swedish label mate Avicii.
DL : Mic Newman - Whatever Kind (Avicii remix) .
Metronomy's 'Night Out' was arguably one of the biggest releases last year and they continue to stomp forward with the EP 'Radio Ladio'. With this Ibiza sounding anthem from Radioclit we see the balearic beat applied to their Swedish and subsequent French remix featuring Bondo do Role's vocalist Marina. The broken beats of the Micachu remix is slightly less playable but definitely a fun afternoon or after hours song best used for chilling out.
DL : Metronomy - Radio Ladio (Radioclit Swedish remix)
Ladytron is another one of those artists that recognizes the power of the remix with the new EP from their critically acclaimed 08 release 'Velocifero'. The most notable remix on the package is from Artic Monkeys/Kasabian man Jim Albiss but my favorite is the remix from the U.K.'s Jeuce which we have for you. Also check the remixes from Dirty Vegas, Vector Lovers and Great Northern.
DL : Ladytron - Tomorrow (Jeuce remix) .
Sent to us via gmail was a suprise of epic proportions with the Franz Ferdinand remix by Zodiac Cartel. ZC are not well known in the world of Indie remixes that blow up hype machine with their formulaic structure and underproduction. ZC use all the best elements while making the track their own with the huge rave stabs and bubbling electro bottom.
DL : Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls (Zodiac Cartel Extended mix)
Also from the mailbox comes a new Saint Pauli remix this time working with fellow countryman Dirty Disco Youth. The monster track gets a glitchy overhaul with lots of dancefloor feel.
DL : Dirty Disco Youth - Bleep (Saint Pauli remix)
This one almost has the feel of a Blende remix but with more control and straightforward electro house beat. Midnight Martyn from Sao Paulo has tons of potential and like fellow Brazilian's Felguk he always comes to the DJ booth with tight trancey electro.
DL : Database ft Bondo de Role - Miami (Midnight Martyn remix)
I first heard of Burns like alot of people when he produced a beautifully washed out re edit of 'We Are The People' by Empire Of The Sun. Recently he sent us his newer track called 'Disko' and its full of that pure disco sound mixed together in a start stop style of synth and vocal snips. He is gonna be one to watch for sure in 09.
DL : Burns - Disko
Hailing from New York is the electro crunk flavors of SCNDL. Released on one of my favorite labels (Coco Machete) SCNDL is heavy and hard without compromise. More of a rave sound than the popular sounds of most electro its no wonder that they were able to get FUKKK OFFF to edit the newly released single.
DL : SCNDL - Drama (Original mix) .
DL : SCNDL - Drama (FUKKK OFFF remix) via DISCOPUNK
Bonus Material:
DL : N'to - Monkeys Hug (Lutzenkirchen remix)
DL : Porn Kings vs DJ Supreme - Up To The Wildstyle (Mowgli vs Bagheera remix)

We have the Rogue Element remix of Franz Ferdinand too which is sick! It's too close to call which is better, his or Zodiac Cartel's, so come let us know.
