One of the bigger releases for the year 09 will surely be the new Pet Shop Boys record on March 23rd from EMI/Parlophone. It's been 3 years since the soft punk electronic 2006 release 'Fundamental'. The album was overshadowed musically by its political leanings against the Labour Party's then U.S. Lapdog Tony Blair. They still produced trademark PSB in terms of technicality but the soul was lacking. The track 'Minimal' is by far the best club track on the album and the extended 2 CD that was released later that year has some maniac remixes by Trentmoller and Alter Ego to name a few. Some new remixes of the first single are here and Frankmusik is the definite standout with the self edit coming in a close second. The Frankmusik is hard and fast and the Pet Shop Boys redefine the mix with a club feel. Kurd Maverick and Gui Boratto also make cuts but trance ain't my bag baby.

Many have tried to remix this one and not many have been posted by this cranky old windbag writer so heres me hypocriticizing myself.
DL : Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning (Alex Metric remix)
Germany's Justin Faust released his 'Revenge' EP earlier in the month and now like always we are treated to the remixes. Thanks to the Disco Workout crew on the exclusive postage of this brilliant remix trio. The 'Revenge' EP is available on Beatport. Russ Chimes fills up this synth fueled masterpiece with a bigger bottom end while Pelifics work 'Surfer Mystique' into a New Order'ish frenzy and Cyndi Seui takes is back to the 80's but with a bpm more suited for 2009.

Whether its remixes or originals I can't get enough of Thibault Berland a.k.a. Breakbot. With a degree in Computer Graphics and love for animation/comics he crafts some of the best dance sharing the upper echelon with the unstoppable (also French) duo Justice. 'Penelope Pitstop' is a funky slap bass affair with all the trimmings of a great house banger.

Brooklyn is always in the house when Trouble and Bass records are around . They dropped the 'Fearless' EP by BlackFinger in January replete with heavy bassline creations from the Midlands producer DJ. Supra1 flat out wins the race to recreate the perfect crunk rave sound.
DL : BlackFinger - UMF (Supra 1 remix)
Swede intelle tech house master Tiger Stripes returns with more remixes and as usual they are groovy, fueled with smooth house sensability and verve that have been his bread and butter with many of his releases on Get Physical. In 05 'Sandcastles' got released by afro beat house dj and producer Dennis Ferrer and Jerome Sydenham.
