Random Selections

I have recently been enjoying Boxon Records 'Boxon Makes Me Happy' comp that came out just before 09. Boxon sent us a message the other day informing us of a little art contest for all you aspiring So-Me's out there with a nifty prize pack from Julien Minet @ Boxon.

Print the mask from the link HERE! Email a pic of yourself wearing the mask to boxonrecords@gmail.com

I have been listening to alot of Air France lately and as such I realized that I had never mentioned them on the ole blogger. So here's some for you.

DL : Air France - No Excuses

After having just nailed a remix they completed of Beni's 'My Love See's You' Michael David and Tyler Blake return to remix what was arguably one of the hardest originals I've heard in at least half a year. I am speaking of course of the metal machine track 'Riddle Of Steel' by Los Angeles' Guns n' Bombs. Classixx transforms the track into their very own experiment with very little reference to source sounds but in my opinion they still kill it.

DL : Guns n' Bombs - Riddle Of Steel (Classixx version) .

Montreal's Mad Kids were kind enough to send along a remix they completed recently of Jesse Rose's 'Touch My Horn'. We dropped the 'Well Now' track from the EP awhile back and at the time wondered who would be first to embark on the monumental task of improving on something so real and pure. The Paris of the North has pulled through. The add a Sinden sounding bottom on the funky trombone number which is done in perfect form.

So many remixes rise and fall due to their productions overall sound and umphh if you will. Here the Mad Kids succeed where many others fail. They create a remix that is simple but not boring and most importantly they don't fall into the remixer disease of adding too much to a remix so that I tune it out.
