Sunday Post
Busy night for me tonight as I get to see my hero from the sixties Bob Dylan and then later a burst into the future with the electro pop madness of Shout Out Out Out Out. Sufficed to say I will have a case of the Monday's tomorrow and musical hangover to boot. I thought that this week instead of posting a wrapup of the best from gmail and the world of up and comers I would showcase some of the best new music from some more established artists/remixers. I couldn't find alot of info on Idiotproof but I am familiar as you all must be with the work of Boys Noize artist Siriusmo. Released on Jesse Rose's Made To Play records in September this one has been blowin up dancefloors with its tech house vibrations. Not your average banger here pummeling you relentlessly, it takes the route of slow and steady without being slow, always building a heavy foundation under the ragga jump up vocals.
DL : Idiotproof - Gorilla (Siriusmo's Ass Of The Baboon remix)
I have been in awe of this remix of the Aussie electro outfit Citylife ever since it was released in early September with remixes by Carl Kennedy, Feenixpawl, Starfighter, Don vs DBN, and the remix which we have here today. Citylife is the Melbourne production duo Gerard Sidhu and Andy Murphy who contract french touch specialist Fred Falke to remix their neo soul house anthem. His remix once again eclipses the competition with his tradmark measured bubbly dreamscape approach to everything he touches. Buy the rest of the EP HERE
DL : City Life - San Francisco feat DD (Fred Falke remix) .
Everyone remembers the Tronik Youth remix of 'Bathroom Gurgle' from last year with its funky bassline hybrid and perfect use of the LOTP vocals. Breakbot give this one a breakstep beat and funky 160 bpms beginning. Blistering speed at the start which transitions into a leftfield soundtrack style beat structure when we finally 'Find Ourselves A Little Boy'
DL : Late Of The Pier - Bathroom Gurgle (Breakbot remix) .
Southern Fried records The BPA have a new single with 'Seattle'. We have the Azzido Da Bass remix that has the Oizo bassline feel. Other remixers included are Jamie Fanatic and Brookes Brothers who put a drum and bass smackdown on Fatboys Slim's alter ego. The Brighton Port Authority" is an alias for musician Norman Cook. The act debuted in 2008 with a collaboration with David Byrne and Dizzee Rascal titled "Toe Jam", along with a video featuring nude dancers with censor bars on them, making pictures and words with them.
DL : The BPA - Seattle (Azzido Da Bass vs Smallboy remix)
Awhile back Voules posted the original and DJ Assault remix of 'Le Night Dominator'. Well The Touch is back to bring us a 2 EP remix effort of the already wildly popular title track as well the remixes of 'Maximization Nation'. The remix today is by Swedish countryman Patrick L who started his career with the release "Things I Wanna Do" in 2004 on the respected house label Onephatdeeva run by the allmighty house-icon ATFC. It got remixed by The Shapeshifters. Since the summer of 2007 Patrick runs his own record label Twerok Records. Analogue heavyness permeates every possible break here and reforms the original into a mere shadow of itself.
DL : The Touch - Le Night Dominator (Patrick L remix) .
Filthy Dukes emerge wired and blinking from the shadows of nocturnal London to bring you 'Tupac Robot Club Rock’, the first release from their debut album ‘Nonsense in The Dark’.
Sounding like nothing else around, 'Tupac…' features the lyrical spitfire of subversive Philadelphian funsters Plastic Little and has been a big live track for the Filthy Dukes at the festivals all summer. L-Vis 1990 returns with another off beat abstract dream remix pushing the dance boundaries into the evil drum and bass genre all but for the standard blocky 4/4's that are augmented by the omnipresent bottom sub bass attack.
DL : Filthy Dukes - Tupac Robot Club Rock (L-Vis 1990 remix) .
Bonus
DL : Armand Van Helden - Shake That Ass ft Team Facelift (Mowgli remix)
