Roots Manuva - Hot Chip remix
The latest effort from South London hip hop guru Roots Manuva shows off a mature and lighthearted approach to his songwriting as opposed to the work of the past few years in which he delved into more of his personal demons and dark paranoia. With the new single 'Let The Spirit' I feel the 70's dancehall love vibe in full. Manuva just seems more centered and alive with the big synth's and funky dub ska basslines indicative of a kid raised by first generation immigrants via Jamaica. If there was one person I would task out to raise the Manuva bar even higher it would be countrymen Hot Chip. After astronomical success with Wiley the pop gods increase the bpms and the star power of this track with Rough Trade bass sections and groovy guitars that are pure indie grime hop par exellence. Enjoy ...I did.
