Sunday Post

More and more of my time is being spent in front of my monitor as I try in earnest to keep myself and you up to date on some of the newest and brightest tracks to be found on the interweb and beyond. I am a slacker at heart and am trying to improve but evry once in a while I get bogged down with too much excellence and am forced to create a Sunday Post.

Calvin Harris had a big role to play in the success of Dizzee Rascal's transatlantic grime bling. 'Dance Wiv Me' was a gold mine. So much so that Dizzee going to focus his writing more in the pop realm for his next record (or so he says). Calvin Harris remixed this classic from Jamiroquai and this its exactly like his edits of The Ting Tings, CSS, Cut Copy and most recently Primal Scream. Spot on!
DL : Jamiroquai - Canned Heat (Calvin Harris remix)

Y4K, the new Distinctive offshoot have decided to announce their arrival with updated remix of this seminal rave classic from 91'. First up we have Caspa & Rusko on duties - and I dont even know what I'd call this. dub house? I dont know. It's kinda cool though. I do like this. Current champion of indie/electro/fidget mania HiJack is up next, with the complete tech control over the ole school amen loops. Ghettohouse at its finest.
DL : Lennie De Ice - We R I .E. (Hijack remix)

Rejected hail from the Lowlands in the Nether regions where techno and dub meld in to a perfect fusion of spacey loops and big house sensibility. Harvard Bass represents the West Coast revival crew of funky desert house. I can only describe his remix as nocturnal creeper with a mezmerizing synth top and gigantic rave key bottom that is much more lively than the original. The quality and finish on HB's latest efforts are all killing the competetion and as well as speakers.
DL : Rejected - Let's Go Juno (Harvard Bass's More Chords Edit)

There have been many attempts at remaking the indie hit 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' but none have cut the track to my satisfaction till now. I'd love to hear this live with its big beats and perfect guitar cut ins. Left/Right are keeping the Dallas scene afloat with praise sure to follow on remixes this tight. Thx to them for sending it along for free.
DL : The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go (Left/Right remix) .

Another remix worth noting is from Italy's Broke One creating a moody synthetic punch bass edit of 'Life In Technicolor'. This one plays more like a midnight radio track than an in your face dancefloor slammer but when the middle re breaks into an electro line its pure club. All the elements of the Coldplay are held together perfectly with some sort of digital editing glue where there are no seams. Thx to Broke One for the tracks.
DL : Coldplay - Life In Technicolor (Broke One remix) .

Last up is time warp traveler Kavinsky with his best 'Knight Rider' impersonation soundtrack with a 'To Live and Die In L.A.' chase sequence edge. This is full on electro with alomost no house but I love it.
DL
: Kavinsky - 1986 .
