Spencer Products - 'Product' Compilation
featuring Copenhagen Collective

We have had many Coco Machete releases featured here on the pages of VR over the last year such as FUKKK OFFF, D' Secret SVC, and Zero Cash just to name a few. Released about a fortnight ago was the stellar compilation album from the NYC upstarts getting the arranged score of indie electronic selections from Spencer Product. Voules gave me a kick in the pants with this post as he had been ravin about one particular song on this brilliant release and that is the Copenhagen Collective from you guessed it Denmark. I apologize for the lack of a myspace link but there was none to be found....If anyone knows it please forward it to me.(edit updated INFO below)

Hey VR,

Saw your posting about Copenhagen Collective, and the lack of info around the track and act on Myspace. The project was done by DJ Djuna Barnes, Anders Trentemøller and Steen Joerrgensen (former lead vox in Sort Sol (Black Sun) (a major indie rock act in Denmark - now deceased). Reason being there isn't a myspace site for the act is it was done as a one-off project for Danish designer - Mads Noergaard - as part of his Spring/Summer Collection 2008 presentation during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The track was featured in a short film - during fashion week - as a Mads Noergaard happening - and didn't involve the act as such. In other words - it's a pure studio project. The track itself stems from Steen Joergensen's now deceased indie act - Sort ol (Black Sun), and was a major "punk" track during the late 70's /early 80's in Denmark. I don't think it ever crossed any borders. As an added bonus - the model featured in the short film to which the track was done for is Danish Freja Beha - one of the highest paid models in the world - but that's entirely beside the track, which is still wicked almost 10 months down the line here in Denmark.

All the best,
Jesper
