Kidda's 'Going Up'
Skint records has got to the most visionary group of music producers on the planet. Hitting the mark again they release Kidda's new full length 'Going Up'.. The original 'Under The Sun' has been in the new Bacardi mojito adverts and seeings how he got this tasty remix by Herve. -things are looking up for the Brighton musicmaker.
from Properly Chilled>>>Kidda, whose real-world alter-ego is Ste McGregor, is known for producing top-shelf hip-hop-funk described as "slick soul breaks, hip hop beats and 'big party vibes' as well as some mean computer animation. His two Ep's "Shoe Cash Ep" and "Word Booty EP" on the Catskills label saw Kidda bustin' on the scene delivering a pitcher full of spiked and sugared party vibes, cut-up funk, and fresh hip hop derivatives. Strong on cut-up, soulful vocals, afro-funky percussive rhythms, bugged out synths and playful moods*, Kidda's sounds is definitely refreshing and with the debut album including vocal contributions from Gary from Snow Patrol, Pyhco Les from Beatnuts soon to be big rapper Lo Max (also featuring Blak Twang) amongst others it's sure to grab peoples attention.
I also have been feeling this Armand Van Helden remix 'Cheap Thrills'. Armand's version has less of the 'Thriller' sections and focus more on a hybrid breakbeat house vibe. Switching some of the bass arrangements really works here. Enjoy!
DL : Kidda - Under The Sun (Herve remix).
DL : Kidda - VIP
DL : Herve feat. Plastic Little - Cheap Thrills (Armand Van Helden remix).
Up next is a new remix from France's Mustard Pimp who was nice enough to send this one to us. I actually had this nutter from another page(can't remember which!) and meant to post it earlier last week. Thx for the email reminder guys. Also be sure to check out their Crookers remix on myspace.
DL : Bryan Cox - Let's Go To Work (Mustard Pimp remix)
The Youngsters also from the House capitol - France produce a beautifully crafted house banger here with 'The Phoenix'. Soft night time beats that explode with heavy claps and tight percussion. The Youngsters have been producing ever since 99' when they hit it big by signing to Laurent Garnier's prestigious F- Communication label where they recorded two albums.
DL : The Youngsters - The Phoenix
Released today from Kingdom Kome Cuts records comes a new single that pits Fish & Chips against Feel Good Productions. Clean spacey start that has a latin house party written all over it. At times the horn sets remind me a little of Parov Stelar(never a bad thing).
DL : Fish & Chips vs Feel Good Productions - Bouncing In Draught (MLA remix).
Bonus :
DL : Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor (Jesse Rose mix)
