Fonzie - Magnum

I am old enough to remember seeing originals and reruns of the classic show 'Happy Days' featuring Henry Winkler as Arthur Fonzarelli or Fonzie as he was known. The Fonz was the epitome of cool showing uptight suburban kids how to rock out, dance, smoke, drive a motorcycle and last but not least how to fix a jukebox without any tools.

Fonzie is an up an coming producer from Manteca California that has made an epic electro prog track here called 'Magnum' that builds you up with what seems like a biblical swath of locusts approaching and then landing on your head. Once running the track has great pace and vocal stabs of either 'Work' or 'What' but I can't tell which. The whole feel is serious and funky which I love. He also sent us a wicked remix of Futuristic Prince's A.T.C.S.L. I haven't heard anything from Fonzie in the news lately so I wanted to know a little more about him.

VR - How'd you get started?

I fell in love with electronic music the first time that I heard "the big booya" by jess & crabbe. I started DJing about 8 years ago, spinning french touch/filtered house and got into electro about 3 years ago. It wasn't until recently that I started to get serious about making music.

VR - Favorite artists or tunes right now?

Don Rimini & DJ Gero are my favorite producers right now. The whole Kick & Run EP is fire. I love electro that has a tough edge, but doesn't take itself too seriously. Kelevra, is another of my favorites. His basslines are monstrous. Last but not least... Futuristic Prince. I run a monthly party in san francisco with them called WORK. We collaborated on a track and I did a remix for them. They are extremely talented and it's only a matter of time before they blow up.

VR - Any Favorite Movies?

I like 80's action flicks. Cobra is definitley my favorite. Sylvester Stallone was such a BAMF in that movie.

VR - Any Guilty Pleasures?

My guilty pleasure is southern rap/crunk. I listen to it before gigs it gets me hyped up!
