Ark 1 - Beyond The Wizards Sleeve

As far as most of you know out there I listen to house and electro inspired tunes that have more to do with dancefloors than rock shows. I try to stay on top of everything possible in all music genres(cept country) and when I saw that a friend had sent me a copy of 'Ark 1' by Beyond The Wizards Sleeve I knew it was time to break ranks. This full length collection of songs officially releases tomorrow so be sure to check it out on Rough Trade records.

When I first heard that Erol Alkan and Richard Norris were working on a psychedelic project called Beyond The Wizards Sleeve I was a little hesitant. After hearing some the remixes and radio shows that both DJ/Producers usually drop I was concerned that the old dusty sounding Brian Eno tapey vibe would get lost. Such is not the case here at all. All the elements that are present in the celebrated Essential mixes are here but with a muddled acid induced rock haze. So much of this sounds like what Robert Pollard envisions his legacy to be - To pick up where the Beatles, The Who, and The Kinks left off. This probably the best feeling I've has since the early days of Spiritualized and Doves. Anyways this is definitely not my usual post but you will dig!
